Tool needed:
-
10mm Socket Wrench
-
S7 Dropper rebuild kit
-
Light suspension grease (e.g. Slickoleum, Slick Honey, SRAM butter)
-
Isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth
Important: Fully extend the dropper post before beginning this procedure. Failure to do so may create a safety risk.
STEP 1: REMOVE RETAINING NUT
Using your 10mm socket wrench, remove the retaining nut.

STEP 2: REMOVE MID CAP ASSEMBLY AND LOWER TUBE
By hand, unthread and remove the Mid Cap Assembly counter-clockwise, then pull out the Lower Tube.

STEP 3: REMOVE BUSHINGS, PINS, AND MID CAP ASSEMBLY
The upper and lower bushings are split. By hand, pull the bushings open and slide them off the Upper Tube. Remove the locating pins by hand, then slide the Mid Cap Assembly off the Upper Tube.

STEP 4: CLEAN AND INSPECT PARTS
Use isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth to wipe the Upper Tube, Lower Tube, bushings, and pins. Inspect all parts for visible wear. Replace any worn components as needed.

STEP 5: INSTALL MID CAP ASSEMBLY
Apply a light coating of grease to the dust wiper in the Mid Cap Assembly, then slide the Mid Cap Assembly onto the middle of the Upper Tube.

STEP 6: INSTALL BUSHINGS, PINS, AND O-RING
Apply a light coating of grease to the locating pin pockets and the upper and lower bushing locations. Reinstall the upper and lower bushings and locating pins. Then apply a light coat of grease over the upper and lower bushings and locating pins. Place the O-ring onto the bottom of the Upper Tube.

STEP 7: INSTALL LOWER TUBE AND MID CAP ASSEMBLY
Insert the Lower Tube, making sure the logo is aligned to the rear. Keep the Upper Tube facing upward to prevent the O-ring from shifting out of place, then thread the Mid Cap Assembly in clockwise by hand until snug.

STEP 8: REINSTALL LOCK WASHER AND RETAINING NUT
Reinstall the lock washer, then thread on and tighten the retaining nut using your 10mm socket wrench.
